radiating patchwork, two ways

This recent acquisition from an eBay seller in Texas caught my eye because it reminded me of another quilt in my collection.

The first quilt is a variation on the "Sunshine" block by Clara Stone around the turn of the century. The second is a pattern known as "The Thrifty Wife", although the quilt probably predates the 1939 publication of the pattern in the Kansas City Star. Similar effect, two different blocks.
