Spooky Show II

Zauberspiegel, 2010

ASTORIA, OR- Spooky Show II, the second annual October group photography exhibit opens Saturday at Lightbox Photographic. The exhibit includes work from 45 photographers, many local, and some from as far away as Australia and Europe. Work covers a broad range of photographic processes, such as archival pigment ink, gelatin silver, and even wet plate collodion.

I first heard about Lightbox about a year ago, when gallery owners Chelsea and Michael Granger were doing their first Spooky Show. Halloween has always been a favorite of mine, so I submitted a print and it was part of the show. The Spooky Show celebrates Halloween all month with photographs that are haunting and mysterious in nature, evoking a sense of unease while maintaining an element of beauty. I have one piece in the exhibit, Zauberspiegel, 2010 (pictured). It is an archival pigment ink print on paper.

The opening reception will take place at the gallery from 5-9pm on Saturday. The reception is part of the Second Saturday Art Walk Downtown. For more information, visit the Lightbox web site at: http://lightbox-photographic.com.
